First time at the Tobias Theatre for a show. Locally known as "The Toby," this theatre is a small venue located inside the Indianapolis Museum of Art, now known as Newfields. The venue seats 530 and is acoustically perfect for small shows. This is likely one of the nicest and cleanest venues in the midwest. Hopefully more shows will be booked here.
The evening is billed: Suzanne Vega - Old Songs, New Songs and Other Songs and so it was. Plenty of old songs mixed with new compositions and an impressive cover of the Lou Reed classic, Walk On The Wild Side.
Suzanne Vega was accompanied by long time collaborator and guitarist Gerry Leonard. Gerry has an impressive resume himself, having played with David Bowie, Duncan Sheik, Laurie Anderson, Rufus Wainwright as well as work on many soundtracks. Playing cello on the ocassional song was Stephanie Winters, herself accomplished as both a cellist and nervous system coach.

The hint of a Cross Canadian Ragweed reunion, after 14 years, was welcome news to fans around the world. Requests for presale passwords exceeded 120,000 and a 2nd show was quickly added. On the day of presale, the servers at OSU seemed to be overwhlemed for ticket sales. Fans with presale passwords were still waiting in the queue 3 hours later when tickets sold out two shows at Boone Pickens Stadium. Third party ticket sites posted tickets for a nominal upcharge at first, followed by a surge of price increases as the day went on. By early afternoon, the announcement came that plans were developing for two additional shows Thursday and Sunday to accommodate the demand. What started as a one off concert event has now grown into a 4 day behemoth. That demonstrates the impact that Cross Canadian Ragweed made on the music scene from 1994 until 2010.
This is show #1 of 4 nights. A veritable who's who of Oklahoma artists featuring: The return of Cross Canadian Ragweed plus Turnpike Troubadours, Great Divide, Jason Boland and The Stragglers, and Stoney LaRue.
