DICK CLARK AMERICAN BANDSTAND GRILL
Indianapolis, IN - USA

Permanently Closed Dick Clark's American Bandstand Grill located at Keystone At The Crossing in Indianapolis was the city's answer to a Hard Rock Cafe, which seemed impossible for a city like Indianapolis to acquire at that time. Memorabilia sparsely decorated the interior, including a guitar signed by Pink Floyd and a smashed guitar from Paul Stanley of KISS. If memory serves, they also had a microphone once used by Robert Plant. Otherwise, greasy food typical of most theme restaurants with stuff nailed to the wall. Closed in 2002.

HARD ROCK 1
Frankfurt, GERMANY

This is not a typical Hard Rock by any means. If you're looking for famous instruments and gold records, with chocolate malts and cheeseburgers, you might be in the wrong place, although they did have some American fare on the menu. Is it one of the original Hard Rocks, as legend tells, or is it a renegade location? Who knows, but we had a helluva good time there.

HARD ROCK CAFE

It's like going to two Hard Rock Cafe's in one stop. Niagara Falls has a Canadian and a US location literally at opposite ends of a footbridge from each other. Like everything else Niagara, the Canadian side is better. Don't forget your passport.

HARD ROCK VAULT MUSEUM
Orlando, FL - USA

Permanently Closed Interesting factoid, the Hard Rock Vault Museum opened in the same building as the failed Guiness World Records Museum. The Hard Rock venture aimed to give rock fans a memorabilia experience for $14.95 per person. Apparently fans did not shell out the dough to see rock artifacts they could see at the Hard Rock Cafes for free. The museum lasted only from January 2003 - September 2004.

ROCK N ROLL HALL OF FAME
Cleveland, OH

Love it or hate it, the I.M. Pei designed pyramid in Cleveland, known as the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame sits beside Lake Erie. For an ever growing list of annual inductees, the pyramid shaped, land locked structure seems a limited and unlikely choice.

63 Bank St
New York, NY

February 1979, having finally made bail, Sid Vicious was released from Rikers Island Metro Prison for the death of Nancy Spungen. It was here at a party, celebrating Sid's release, that the former Sex Pistol overdosed on heroin and died.

PARK AVENUE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
106 E 86th St
New York, NY - USA

Widely believed to be the inspiration, not the actual door, to the cover photograph for the commercially disasterous KISS, Music From The Elder. In interviews the art director mentioned that he passed this door on his way to work each day. A model was built for the photo shoot itself. Notice the woodwork and studded adornments. Of course for the record jacket, the small window was replaced by the more dramatic golden ornamental door knocker.
