A great evening starting off with Iron Maiden beer and burgers at Kumas Corner in old Fountain Square. Then a quick walk up the block from Kumas to the Hi-Fi Lounge for Jason Boland. The place was filling up nicely by the time we got in and grabbed a few beers. Caleb Caudle did a nice job opening the show until the Stragglers took the stage. By that time, the room was full. The night was supposed to feature a setlist of Pearl Snaps tunes in its entirety, however it sounded like that plan was scrapped for a best-of approach to the evening. Very enjoyable show and a quick pic with Jason after the show.

This would turn out to be the last show of 2020 for me. Also the last show at the Jazz Kitchen before remodeling would take place during the pandemic. The old layout of the Jazz Kitchen featured stage at the north end of the room, then sound and bar actually separating the room, then a small bar area with limited if any view of the stage and banquet space/green room south of the bar. So from a fan or spectator persepctive, the sound and bar were a limiting factor to see a show there, although in my opinion, the sound was usually better in the bar. For this show we sat at the bar and they did have a closed circuit tv in the bar so you could see, just not the same as in the main dining room and stage area.

Sanborn was spectacular and gave a very enjoyable show. With COVID just starting to hi the news, but not in a way that impacted our lives yet, he did stay and mingle with fans a little bit, but very cautiously.

UPDATE 1: The Governor has begun easing restrictions making summer shows possible, however local rules are still quite restrictive. The Mayor of Indianapolis is obviously not using data or science to make decisions about easing restrictions. Indianapolis businesses are literally crippled by Mayor Hogsett. As of June 1, 2020, there is no future date in mind for re-opening movie theatres, bars, nightclubs, or music venues in Marion County, while the rest of the state has largely re-opened, with bars outside Marion County re-opening June 14.

UPDATE 2: This show has been postponed, now a FREE SHOW, new date August 13, 2020

I learned about the Michigan Rattlers late last year and was really looking forward to this show. As is the case for all shows this year, its one more disappointing cancellation.

Rescheduled and looking forward to a summer show, but now the promoter says its a FREE SHOW, tough luck to those who paid for tickets originally. And as the concert date got closer, it soon vanished again. Just when we thought things were getting back to normal, the re-scheduled August date for Todd Snider - ahem, the now FREE show that I paid to see, mysteriously disapperaed from The Vogue's events page. Soon after, I received an email stating this show would be re-scheduled for next year...while the promoter holds the money I original paid for tickets early this year. Thank you MOKB for holding my hard earned money so that I don't spend it. Dicks.
